What do you want to know? Your question is rather dull and unspecific? Are you concerned about safety, comfort or train frequencies?
In general I think trains in Russia are quite good. If you travel 'kupe' you will be in a 4 bed room that is more spacious than European trains.
Won't know about St. Petersburg, but in general train stations are in good conditions. I would be more concerned as a traveller about purchasing tickets in Russia than about conditions. It seems to be tougher if you don't know the language.. |

Cheb. are you the same person as Mediashark? Coz both of you are so rude at times to people, even my sarcastic remarks come across as light-harted humor in the light of your remarks.
Dull? This question isn't dull. It's a legitimate question. Good that you answered it though. |

My apologies to fredwwru. I did not intend to be rude. It just strikes me sometimes to read people's questions that can be answered by reading the site a little.. As I recall there is quite some information on trains on it.
Vitalsigns: I thought I had invited you especially to this guessing game I once started? It was especially geared towards the kind of questions you are now asking. |

Cheb. does talk a bit like Xela, except Cheb. is way nicer and doesn't use the word "wilst" as Xela does all the time.
What do you mean "very close guess"? Are you siamese twins or something?? I am either right or wrong, not close.

You're having too much fun finding out what other nicknames i might use to hide my 'true identity' from you. I am not Xela either.
Don't make it too easy for him mediashark.. It should take some effort for vitalsigns to solve the puzzle. |

| fredwwru: The metro (subway) trains and stations are in a very good condition. I am not so sure about the inter-city trains. I know there are several new luxury trains running between St Petersburh and Moscow with such amenities as TV in the room and a restaurant. Regular/cheap trains are not very comfortable, but are a good way to save money. |

Hi,
Leningradskii station is where the Mow - St P trains generally depart from. Komsomolskaya Ploschad. It's pretty non descript when compared to Yaroslavl or Kazanskii stations which are there as well. It's big and has the usual ameneties. Moskovskii station in St P is smaller, but more ornate. The left luggage lockers are OK and you get to pick your combination on them.
The trains themselves are fine and it's usually an overnight journey. Starting between 11:00 p.m. and 12:00 p.m. usually at Mow and winding up in St - P early morning. Same for going back.
Now some torture for Vitalsigns.....I've met one of the ladies, and no they aren't co-joined twins..........
Enjoy

I got it. Cheb. and Media. are both in Moscow and they are friends. That's easy.
So you are in Moscow too.... Speaking of Kazanskii station, I was there several months ago and there were TONS of shady guys (drunk and just weird looking) roaming around. Is it typical for Kazanskii only or for all stations? |

Vitalsigns,
The whole of Komsomolskaya Ploschad is full of shady characters, particularly at night. It's got an atmosphere all it's own...a lot of guide books reckon it's pimp/prostitute/drug & drunk filled and "dangerous" but I'd rate it safer than most other deperado hangouts...
Further hair rending for you :

Teasing me eh, you long-eared muffin? No more guessing for me. Because there's no warranty that even if I guessed you would tell me that I did. So....
Speaking of the trains. I get THE best sleep when I go on an overnight train. With all the noise and small inconviniences, I still enjoy to sleep on a train ride. Is it true for other people? |

I agree. I travelled St. Petersburg - Moscow a few times (at home I don't really use overnight trains) and slept so well I was surprised! |
