A man who cant support one wife, and a couple kids, is suddenly going to be able to support 3 wives and multiple children? LOL I highly doubt it! Besides which the person who was quoted in this article is someone who is full of shit, because according to sharia law, the man must be able to financially provide for all women in an equal way, which means buying houses for each one of them. This is fine for chechens considering they live in their little close knit type villages, but for people who are educated and know what love and companionship are, they arent going to consent to a polygamist relationship, I mean gosh, how desperate do you have to be to marry a man who has no time for you?!?!? |

the population of young women and young men are more or less equal for this generation. it was dedushka's and babushka's generation that had a really unbalanced male:female population. why do you think russia has so many babushkas?
it's not gonna work... unless you are an old man or love older ladies. or a rich muslim. |

We also have to consider the fact that many womens' clothes and products seem to cost more than mens'. I've sometimes seen prices for womens' clothes (really basic stuff), haircuts, and grooming products that are about triple the price of the guys' equivalents.
As one of my female acquaintances once put it: "It's expensive to be a girl!" |

Yeah especially when you cant control yourself in the store LOL. The other day I bought a pair of bluegreen velveteen slipper/shoes with silver beading, simply because I admired these shoes and I wanted to covet them LOL. They are so elegant and they arent even my size, and I dont care!!!! As long as I can stare at them thats all that matters LOL, so yeah it gets pricey |

Have you . . . um. . . been to Chechnya, Fire_Goddess?
You really believe that Chechens are not educated or loveable?
How sad and typically ignorant and racist American.

I wonder what planet you're from firechick? It must be dark there.
You need to learn how to light one small candle and not sit and cuss the darkness the rest of your pathetic life ole boy.

Oh shut up!!! I happen to know chechens are muslim, in which polygamy is perfectly acceptable under sharia law! Dont put words in my mouth! Its for them as it pertains to how they were brought up in their communities. And no educated people, do not participate in polygamist relationships! Thats why polygamy is becoming a thing of the past even in islamic societies as women learn and become more in touch with the outside world. |

Um. No one mentioned polygamy or muslims or sharia law until now.
Have you been to the 'stans, FG? Have you ever been to Russia? Did you know that religion - never mind sharia law - was banned for 70 years? Most FSU muslims can't remember either. Don't you know the difference between culture and religion? Have you no idea of the number of muslims in the former Soviet Union who haven't practised either polygamy or their religion for nearly a century? You really are too ignorant to be true. |

You obviously did not even read the opening post, we are all commenting on the link provided, since you are unable to read perhaps you should just SHUT UP!!! Polygamy goes on everywhere that there are muslims, they all get married in the mosque which is not required by any law to report that marriage to the government. And as most muslims believe, islamic law comes before anything else. I am not going to argue further because you are taking it off topic and turning it into some race war because you have a problem with americans. Get over yourself, get the pole out of your ass and then comment in a rational manner! |

None of this is true. In fact, it's so ignorant, it's laughable.
Polygamy is not sanctioned in Russia. Hasn't been for a century. Even if you are muslim, which many millions of FSU Russians are. But not 'practising muslims'. The idea that all muslims are polygamous is also erroneous.
| Quote: | | they all get married in the mosque |
Um . . . no. I see you know absolutely nothing. The square root of f all. In Russia, for example, you get married in ZAGS. Even in a muslim state, like Chechnya. On the whole, only muslim men go to the mosque for prayers.
| Quote: | | islamic law comes before anything else |
Um ... no. The laws of the country come first.
Do read a book sometime. |
