Hi,
In the UK we do not have personal saint days. Having recently married a Russian I need to know if I should do anything for her. Do I need to get a gift for her etc.

And give the men a thought on Feb 23rd - it use to be the Day of the Protectors of SovietUnion, but is renamed.

Some people in Russia do celebrate Saint days. I know many examples, when people do this in cases when the Saint day is in autumn-spring, and birthday is in summer. The reason here is that it's harder to get all friends invited - most people are on vacations/out of the city.

To make anything special or not - is up to you and to your wife Smile
Most people I know that are serious about this, treat saint day as a second birthday (since as songs says "it's a pity that birthday is only once a year") and so expect congratulations and presents. (Though imho this is not they way they should think from the point of view of church Smile )

It use to be the "Day of the Soviet Army & Navy". Currently it is "The Day of the Protectors of Fatherland".
