I will be going to Rostov-na-Donu for a year on a 1 year multiple entry business visa (with no fixed business). I would like to bring my computer setup - which will consist of a MacBookPro, and an external RAID drive about the size of a shoebox. I don't see that I should have any problem with these. But I would also like to bring my 40" LCD TV, which doubles as a 2nd monitor. Shipping the TV seems out of the question for both the cost of shipping and the potential cost of the tariffs and fees in Russia.
Can I bring this sort of thing as a piece of checked luggage?
And if so, will customs give me any trouble about it in Russia?
If I am on a business visa, does that mean my computer and TV/monitor will be considered for commercial use and taxed at 30%? |

A monitor like that doesn't come cheap honestly, I wouldn't chance shipping or check in a monitor that large as luggage even if the cost was cheap. Those 40" LCD monitors can damage easily and it just takes a bump to break them or not work properly. Can you go without it for a year? I wouldn't try it. |
