Triggar,
You listed some fascinating facts. Wonderful job! But sadly you did not answer the boy's question about comparing North American people with Russian people. |

| How can a Russian be expected to compare north Americans with Russians, especially when most Russians have never been out of Russia? |

| There was student exchange from a high school in Calgary and Ekaterinaberg about three years ago and they made a list of differences. Check it out and maybe it can answer your questions. |

I'm American, and until Saturday I cannot say I have ever been to Russia to make the comparison! |

| I think most Russians think of Americans having it easy in life...and we do for the most part. But we work hard for what we have. And we have made huge sacrifices to get where we are today. We are a land of laws and we for the most part abide to them. I we have a good sense of community, state, and nation. There is no other nation who has an all volunteer military like ours. And that says a lot about a society. |

| It's quite common these days in the civilised world to have an all professional army. |

Surfguy are you saying that no one else works hard, no one else makes sacrifices and that all Russians are lawless? |

| I think he was simply refuting the idea/perception, with examples, that Americans live a comfortable life without doing anything for it. |

| I was just in Russia and the biggest differnc that I see is americans smile alot more than russians, Americans dress like slobs compared to russians, americans don't argue about prices on things while russiand argue about most prices. americans live in houses, russians live in flats and russians drink more alchol that americans or at least do it more in the open |

Not at all-people work very hard-just I think that there is a perception that Americans don't work hard and that we have it easy. This is not necessarily the case. |

New Yorkers live in flats too. So, there are places in America where people live in flats. |
