I've decided to leave my teaching job in St Petersburg, for various reasons, but after I'd extended my visa to the end of September next year. So I now have a valid business visa until September. I'd like to come back to Russia in the summer, to do the Trans-Siberian, and I thought at first I'd just use that visa, partly so as not to waste all the money I spent on it! But after reading some posts on this site, it seems that you can only register business visas in the city they were issued, and I wasn't going to come back to St Pete's, just start the journey in Moscow. I'll be staying in hotels, and I thought hotels registered you anyway, but I read that some hotels only register you for two nights if you have a business visa, and I'd hate my trip to be messed up at the Mongolian border because of visa problems! Another option is to get a tourist visa for the period of my holiday. This would be easy, except that, as I will already have a valid business visa for this period, would the consulate in Britain refuse me another one, do you think? Or maybe I could send a letter explaining that I'm no longer working in this school and want to travel instead, would they be willing to issue a tourist visa? I'm getting a bit worried because a friend of mine, who's coming with me, has already had to book her three weeks off work, and if I can't go, then she's wasted most of her holiday for no reason.
