| To be fair to the mods this rubbish is removed fairly quickly but there has been such a tidal wave of it lately that it would require someone watching 24/7 to control it effectively. |

It's not their fault. They can't do a background check on every spammer that registers here. They get them as soon as they can. It will fade out as they ban the users. Try to be a little more understanding and patient. |

A moderator's reply on your request:
It's easy. I am willing to watch this place for 10 hours a day, if I'd get a decent pay for it. We are moderating this place as volunteers, there's only so much time we can devote to this..
About the spam iself:
basically we can only move and delete it. The banning has to be done by someone with admin privileges. But even that doesn't ensure that new spammers/spambots (most of them are probably small programs) subscribe anew and keep on making a mess of things.
Of course you can complain about it, but it's really not going to help as long as there comes a more structural solution to our current spam problem. We have too little time for this, even with 4 of us.. |

So whenever a member here sees SPAM or other inappropriate posts what do you recommend that we do? Should we send a PM to one or more of the moderators?

Simple answer is don't open it. It's obvious (usually) that it's rubbish. |

Sure, if a thread is obviously SPAM I'll just ignore it. However, it has been my experience with other message boards that many times you can't tell if it is SPAM until you actually open the thread. |

Yes, of course I agree that it is best not to ever respond to SPAM. However, when someone does see SPAM posted at this message board, who is the best person to contact in order to have it deleted as soon as possible? |

Just ignore and it will go away. PMing mods over this is effectively creating more spam for them. Rick has already explained what happens.

"Spasibo" for helping to explain the SPAM policy of this message board to me. Over on another message board that I frequent, the moderators there encourage members to PM them immediately about any SPAM you see so that they can delete it ASAP. In any event, I'm relatively new here and will most definitely respect the policy here of simply ignoring SPAM. |
