Hey im from New Zealand and I was wondering if russian people like new zealanders, over here we dont see alot of russian people,I think new zealand would be a great place for them to live,Lifes so easy here you can do so much with what we have, theres so much open spaces an cities near by and its cheap living,We love everyone on this earth here no one is treated different if you live in new zealand you become kiwi. So why is it more Russians dont live here,We love them its a good life ,what stops them Confused

A Russian I know adores New Zealand - especially the scenery. And, of course the quality of life in New Zealand is exceptional too. NZ is a great place to live. Wouldn't mind living there myself one day - been numerous times.

Quite a few Russians that I'm aware of also like The Lord of the Rings movies too. These being a great advertisement for your country.

(Perhaps distance stops them? Or, lack of viable employment? Not sure. Some Russians tend to stop in Australia and don't end up going to/staying in NZ........But, NZ is a perfect place to live)

I think employment is a big factor. Many young Kiwis aslo migrate to Australia for work too........ So, not sure if Russian migrants and other foreigners also perceive Australia as having more employment opportunities than NZ.

Actually there are quite a few Russians in NZ, particularly in Auckland.

In the late 1940's China moved out their huge population of Russians and while most of these went to the USA a not insignificant amount of them went to Australia and New Zealand.

During the 1990's New Zealand became a popular destination as it was relatively easy to get into and gain citizenship. It was then possible to come to Australia as a New Zealand citizen. This has been made more difficult now by the Australian government but it is still easier to use this back door approach than to come here directly.

Currently New Zealand is popular with students and many of the colleges have a quite a number of Russian students.

Most of Russians know about New Zealand very few facts:
1. It is far
2. It is probably something like paradize on the Earth.
3. Zealanders are happy people because they live in paradize.

Smile
