Hello,
Unfortunately, I require daily medications. When I travel I carry emergency medications also. These are of a steroid nature. I also have sedative medications. All of these are by Drs’. orders and I have prescriptions for each one. For my trip to Russia in April 2007 I want to take one complete set of meds in my carry on an another in my checked luggage. This is for safety in case I lose one set. I will be in Russia only 9 days but each set of meds will be for about 2-3 weeks in case I have a delay in leaving I will have sufficient medication. Does Russia customs care if I take in more prescription meds then I can use for my time there?
Thank you

Hi,
So long as you've got Dr's orders/prescriptions with you for the medication (particularly the sedative) and it's declared you'll be fine. They may or may not ask to see it. Take photocopies of the paperwork before you go.

thank you for your reply. each med will have the prescription label from the drug store. i will have a letter from the dr. stating I require these meds and they were authorized by him.
that should do it?
thanks again

i forgot to ask something. you mention declaring meds. i was planning on going through the green line at russian customs. if i declare meds does that mean i must go thru red line? will that be a hassle and or take a long time?
thank you

John,
Not really, but it depends what airport. You may have to wait until someone can wander over or they may not staff the RED area. Smaller airports are like this.
The next thing is if there are no declaration forms. Still go to red. If they aren't interested, fine. You may have to do so pantomine re what the tablets do to you
