I had a great trip to Russia, but they have some kind of flu going around and I got it. I am still sick. I have a temperature, I feel weak, my voice has almost disappeared - can barely talk, and my whole body hurts.
I had to fly back feeling like this... I wonder how many people I infected with this flu. Ha! I think many. Great.
I wish, I could be sick like that in Canada... I think, I would not even feel sick knowing I am spreading the flu all over the canadaian colonies. |

Oh dear... I know what you are talking about. Unfortunately mine did not get better and it eventually landed me in hospital (this one needs another thread to describe).
Sending virtual vitamin C tabs and honey. |

I can only simpathize with you. I am sick as a dog as I am writing this. I have not been sick for the last two years with anything. This is devastating to tell the truth.
4 flights. 4 take offs and 4 landings. I thought I'd die by the time I get to the US. I am going to just lay in my bed for the next few days.
Hope you feel better too! |

Thats horrible, I caught a horrific flu bug on my way back from Dubai, and quickly spread it to my entire family, and this bug literally smacked anyone I came in contact with, and everyone my family came in contact with, and so on and so forth. Long story short, 48 hours after I landed, 18 people were vomiting. It was awful |

When you went through passport control/ customs, you probably handed your passport to the official with your bare hands. The official, who was probably also bare handed, looked at your passport and handed it back to you and you took the passport, again with bare hands. That official probably handled many passports before yours. Passports from bare handed people from all over the world. Wash your hands immediately if possible after going through passport control/ customs. Wipe your passport cover, just don't get it soaking wet. I went through Customs at Toronto in Canada and the official was sneezing, sweating and coughing. I had a cold for the next 3 weeks. I wondered why the Customs official didn't stay home from work if he was sick. Probably trying to keep his job, I guess. Employers don't want employees who call in sick. Even if passport control/ customs officials wipe their hands with an alcohol moistened wipe after every passport handled, it's still a lot of germs from all over the world floating around.

That could be the case. I believe I got it on a 3 hour bus ride from one place to another. There was a person not to far from me coughing and sneezing, basically showing the sympltoms I now do.
Now it's progressed to a whooping cough that produces a lot of mucous. |

I was immunized against whooping cough when I was younger, but I think the immunity wears off after many years have gone by. |

Well, I didn't mean to say the actual whooping cough desease, I meant to say a very heavy cough that hurts your lungs. |

The Russian doc had simplified the diagnosis into a 4 letter word... ОРВИ. Whazzat? I don't know, but it sure sux. Couldn't breath without spewing mucus everywhere and having pain sear through your lungs. Coughed enough to burst a blood vessel in my nose and it bled for days and so I was spewing blood along with the mucus. Thought I caught TB or something! Arrrr!
(That was sometime ago, but quite a horrifying experience for "a flu") |
