Hi there,

We're in Beijing where I've just discovered that they don't issue Russian visas. Wish we discovered waytorussia.net before today.

Anyway, our China visas expire in a few days so NO CHANCE of winging it to Shanghai, therefore we have to try our luck in Mongolia. I understand this isn't without its difficulties and isn't cheap but as things stand it's our only REALISTIC hope of obtaining a tourist visa for Russia.

We are a British couple who will be entering Mongolia in a few days and we will spend ONE MONTH there so this should give us enough time to make arrangements.

Can you help? What do we need? Will the ONLINE LETTER OF INVITATION application on waytorussia.net be accepted by the embassy in Ulaanbaatar, if not what should we do? What else do we require to make this process as PAINLESS as possible?

Many thanks,

The only problem might be that the consulate will not accept faxed/emailed invitations. Check with the consulate in Ulan-Bataar to find out whether or not this is the case.

But probably the easiest way to do it is to go to the Aeroflot office there and ask them to handle your visa for you. It will cost more, but it will be fairly painless. I'm sure there would be other agencies that offer the same service so shop around if you have time.
