Hello Russko-philes!
My first public post here...oooo!
Im planning to spend a month in Russia from the start of October, i hope to get a fast tracked Visa from the consulate in Gdansk, Poland.
I will be applying for a month-long tourist visa in early september, but i wouldnt be using it until the start of October....do you know if that is possible, to apply for a fast track and then not actually go to Rusia for a few weeks? Im assuming the 30 days begins once i am in Russia, not once i get the Visa.
I will probably go into Russia from the Ukraine, with my visa issued from Poland, do you know if that will be a problem?
And im also considering going via Belarus, and perhaps getting a Belarussian transit visa from Kiev, if anyone knows about this that would be good to hear about.
Thanks
O

shouldn't have any problems...but good questions

And I wonder if you get a visa but never use it...does anyone know if that makes it harder to get another one...don't see why it would?

Yes, the early, express application is fine - won't cause any dramas. The 30 days begins and ends on the set dates you specify.

Likewise, entry from the Ukraine won't cause any problems. But I don't know details about Belarussian transit visas.
