Roaches you can kill easy. Rats have urine that can make you deathly sick. |

I chose just the opposite, only because ive found that rats are easier to keep out of the wood work, than roaches. Roaches are disgusting, and can survive for a long time on no food, just by making snacks out of wires, rubber, you name it.  Of course its a different story for someone who lives in an apartment, because if the landlord chooses to do nothing about it, then you are screwed, and will be subjected to the rat urine/crap like you mentioned. |

I hear they eat rats in some parts of the world, so to some it's their sustenance. And if, let's say, hard times come and there's nothing to eat around, rats will do as there are always plenty of those.
If you gut a rat and then deep-fry it - I can eat it - no problem. I cannot stand the look of roaches though. |

| The only qualm I would have about eating rats, are the fact that they carry diseases, and unless they are farmed, you never know what they have eaten. |

I'd rather prefer an infestation of gecko lizards. But since there are no other options, then I choose rats. I detest roaches more than anything in the world. This reminds me of a thread created two years ago by another member who was having problems battling cockroaches in his apartment. Like now, this was in June when the weather outside was becoming really hot. That's when roaches start making there appearance the most. For those of us in the warmer climates, dealing with cockroaches can become an all-out war.
Yeah, rats can definitely carry disease, but like what Fire_G mentioned they are easier to kill off and have limited access in tight corners, unlike roaches that can squeeze into anything and travel anywhere. When I was in London last November I stayed a couple of nights in a roomshare with two Polish ladies that was basically a garage converted into a ramshackle house. Total rat paradise. Even though I could hear the furballs scurrying around at night, it's funny because it didn't bother me as much as encountering a cockroach in my kitchen back at home. I dread that this time of year. |

Exactly, and you can smash as many as you want, they keep showing up in droves. Also where I live, we have these (are they water meters?) under the sidewalk, and these seem to be breeding havens for roaches, who just crawl up on out of the area, and run all over the sidewalk, and into peoples lawns. So its not even a matter of attracting them with something you have, they just try to get into your house at all costs. My mom would go outside at night with my cousins and look for roaches to stomp, but it didnt seem to affect their numbers. And you could drive yourself crazy trying to figure out how the hell they got inside your house to begin with. (go crazy with a caulking gun, it wont help). |

Roaches can come in through vegetables you bring home from the market, especially radishes. They hide in the muddy leaves of radishes. That is why when I go and buy fresh produce, I look real good in between the leaves. They also come in your grocery bags.
A friend of mine had moved into a apartment and it had roaches, she put that borax powder (poisonous) all along the wall seams and corners, this way the roaches get it on their feet and they carry it back to their nest. This is suppose to kill them quickly, but be careful that you don't have pets around when you do this and clean your plates, glasses before you use them. |

Radishes give you frequent, stinky burps. Thus, no radishes for me unless I am alone (which never happens) and so I do not eat them. And as a result I have no roaches. |
