My mistake, I knew lacrosse was played by Native Americans but I mistakenly assumpted they were the native people of what is now the Northeastern portion of the US. In the US it's a very preppy East Coast sport...I guess we learn new things every single day
cyndy22 - I agree, there is no reason to bash Americans (or anybody at all) for the sake of saying it. |

2kiwiguy_os: The other hilarious thing about American football is the need for so many officials. I don't even know how many there are. Does anyone? They have used just about every name possible. They have referees, umpires, linesmen, back-judges, field-judges, replay officials, more than one of some of these. I apologise if I am confused about any of the names. Compare with a football (soccer) or a rugby match.
2Americans (protectors of the world order, liberators of the oppressed, beacons of freedom, etc): Insecure AND sensitive, I guess. American bashing? Not really. Just commenting on your need to feel that everything important in the world is contained within your borders (WORLD Series, SUPER Bowl). They could have been called the MLB championship and the NFL championship, but those names wouldn't do for such great and important events, would they?
I spent a couple of years in the Boston area a while back, so I guess this Sunday I will be pulling for the brave, red socks wearing, celtic, bruin patriots of Boston over the athletic, philly, warrior, 76er, flyer eagles of Philadelphia. I hope they kick many homeruns (that hold up upon review by the replay official and subsequent appeal to the back-judge, and further appeal the law lords of sport). Oh, by the way, celtic is pronounced "k"eltic, most places. |

Like cindy said, why does it have to be a insecurity/ stupidity thing. I like football as much for the comradarie & beer than the actual sport itself, maybe moreso.
If enough time & thought were put into it you could demean every person & every persons hobby until your fingers were blue.
I'll be watchin' it, i'll be drinkin' beer, & i'll have the most beautiful Nubian princess on my arm to console me if the pats lose |

I am SO glad there are people on this forum who can relax, have a beer, spend quality time with friends and watch a traditional championship sports game withou degrading another country!. And the new innovative commercials, music etc. It is a party!
Even while this site is way to Russia, the people who visit are diverse and like it or not USA citizebs are prolific posters. I happen to think that people from the US who are really interested in Russia are not the so called typical stereotypical Americans that some posters think of when they read our posts etc. I really wish that people who choose to participate in international forums would refrain from their stereotypes of people and countries. We are all individuals and deserve to be treated with respect. My sermon of the day!! |

ROTFLMAO! Oh please. I think the one that needs to lighten up is you. I was simply laughing at America's arrogance of claiming winners of domestic competitions as world champions, especially considering that you are not World Champions in 3 of the 4 sports. Sorry if it upsets your sensitivity but that a fact. Just thought I would mention a world champion is a team who has beaten the best teams from around the world.

You betya it's American. Your millions and millions of lawyers had to come up with something new to launch petty lawsuit and justify their scummy existance. |

Tom Brady is a fantastic quarterback. But I think Donovan McNabb is gonna make his game again. In 1998, McNabb, then the
quarterback for Syracuse, and Brady, then the quarterback for
Michigan, met in a game in Ann Arbor and it was McNabb who won. So, folks, if you have a chance, go to see the match. Paul McCartney will be on the halftime. |

Damn right it's American! To label other people as being PC is the epitome of arrogance. And don't get me started on American lawyers and the American culture of "let's find someone else to blame".
2cyndy22: You really need to get a thicker skin. Chill! Kick back! Enjoy your game! I will follow with great interest to see who wins the Super-world-championship of American (well North American, well North American not including Canada, Mexico, Central America) Football.
Go Pats! |

My skin is just fine thank you. You have no idea of tough skinned I am. You know very little about me and the things that I have endured in my life. I am pretty sure that things that I have been through and suvived as comparison to some of your life experiences would show this, and make you look like little babies. LOL.
I just think some of you people's attitude towrd Americans is so prejudiced and arrogant. And let me tell ya something- if you EVER end up getting prosecuted for some crime anywhere in the world, you are gonna wish you had a good lawyer! Lawyers do serve a purpose ahole! |

Notice I said American lawyers. I suspect that someone living in the US is more likely to need a lawyer because he is being sued or is afraid of being sued, than because he is being unjustly prosecuted for a crime. Americans are lawsuit crazy. Why? My theory is that McDonalds raised their employment standards and all those would be burger flippers had to settle for law school. I am sure that I can think of a few puposes that a lawyer could serve (crocodile bait perhaps?). You wouldn't like any of them, however.
2AliceFromMoscow: You are right, of course. But, do you know any Russians who would sue a vodka distiller because he got drunk, fell, and injured himself? Are there any Russian lawyers who would take such a case? In the US, lawyers solicit such cases. Americans have sued McDonalds because they are overweight. Or rather, their lawyers have sued. They have sued McDonalds for making the hot coffee that they stupidly spilled on themselves (while driving no less). Americans sue cigarette manufacturers because they get cancer .. . "Not my fault for smoking for 40 years, no, it is the fault of Marlboro for making the cigarettes that I bought" Give me a break! |
