|

I am visiting Moscow in December and would like to "fit in" clothing-wise. I know sweaters will be a necessity this time of year, but what is the typical dress-code of people on Moscow, whether hanging at a coffe shop or walking around town?
Thanks y'all! |

People, especially young people, dress with taste in Moscow. So if you are going to wear what you wear in your home country, nothing flashy or too expensive (leather, fur, brand name clothing) nobody will notice you.
And, YES, keep your head down ... just kidding. |

Well, there is no special dress code in the city during the winter time. It is accepted that you wear coat, hat, gloves and warm boots everywhere.
However in some "fashion" clubs people are showing off. They don't like sporty style clothes, but prefer leather, fur and brand-naming clothes. |

Hello. First of all, i say you will have the time of your life in moscow. I congratulate you on your decision to free your self from silly western misconceptions. People in the center dress really "hip". Girls try to look like Jennifer Lopez and wear a lot of makeup. men just wear normal stuff. If you are a girl you will probably feel under-dressed in a club if you don't go REALLY stylish. There's a nice sense of style in Moscow, but there are some women who just go over the top and Im sorry to say, dress up like prostitutes. maybe they are. I still don't know |

Hi,
I guess it's easier for you guys! Every time when I visit Russia, I feel under-dressed, short and fat. And I can't understand how Russian ladies can walk on such high heels... Everyone can recognise me being a foreigner. Except once in Murmansk, as I wore tupé and contact lenses. I quess I need to pack those things with me again, as I'm going to go to Moscow in Mid-December! And, perhaps I'll go shopping and buy some nice clothes (and a fur hat!)
Anyhow, I don't worry about these things too much. I'm going to enjoy my trip to Moscow! I hope Dave and others do so too! |
