I would like to know what online services people have used for hotel reservations in St. Petersburg (and Moscow). If you have any recommendations I would like to hear about your positive or negative experiences.

Thanks! Very Happy

I rent an apartment while staying for a week in Moscow. The reasons are the following :

- Freedom of movement. No guards at the lift asking for a registration paper to let you in.
- Immersion in the local environment. In hotels you are a tourist amongst the tourists and will be offered tourist targeted services. In an apartment, you become anonymous, a russian amongst the russian, if you dress and behave properly, which allows you to fully enjoy the discovery of new environments and atmospheres.
- Easily available communication means. Apartment rentals often come with a telephone line /fax and internet access. After experiencing the inconvenience of "business centers" in hotels at outrageous per minute rates, you really enjoy this kind of facility inside your own home away from home.
- Human contact. Human contacts in hotels are impersonal and still often have the stone faced communist times receptionist that wont bother trying to help you with anything. The local landlord will often treat you like a friend, and ease your stay as much as possible.

(downside, there was no hot water in the building at the time i stayed there (July))

The more I read about you Vorteks... the clearer your cloak and dagger image becomes... now you say you hired an apartment in Moscow whilst in another thread a second ago you stated that you only stayed in the villages and were abject to staying anywhere near heavy population centres... Shocked

You are a slimy little individual who behaves like a Chameleon... Laughing

But worse still... you describe yourself and your anarchistic attitudes in just the way that the film... "The Day of the Jackel..." was created... Shocked

The trouble is you're serious about yourself and your views... not only are you sad in the extreme, but the more you say, the more unhinged and dangerous you look to other people reading your posts... Shocked

You're a sick individual who needs some treatment Vorteks... nobody normal would want you around them... so take a hike asshole... Twisted Evil
