Don't know about HOFA, but we're just finishing our new project - a flatmate matching service. It is now only made in Russian, but the English version is coming in the end of this week.

You will then be able to find flatmate in any Russian city, so there won't be any need anymore for HOFA... Smile

I'll post the URL once the English version is ready.

I've used HOFA twice in the last two years and would do so again. The standard of accomodation was good and the host families were helpful and friendly.

My one criticism from my last trip was that, whereas it states on the HOFA internet site that it is a good way to meet Russian families and perhaps become friends with your host family, (presumably one reason for booking through HOFA), I hardly ever say my host family - after the first day the woman disappeared to her dacha and left her seventeen year old son to cater for uson a morning. Although this suited us fine, a purely bed and breakfast arrangment may not be what others may be expecting.

Loved both trips!

Hi,
I did a homestay in St Pete and it was great. I don't think mine was HOFA, as my travel agency was linked to Intourist. I got my own room in a large apartment just off Nevskii prospekt near the train station so I could walk just about everywhere.
