| Yes, many Russians like to dance to R'n'B, MTV kind of stuff. But not too many, most people like Russian music, I think. |

Please, please, you guys, stop spoiling my perception of Russia mainly Russian pop culture.
First, they don't like rock or punk rock, now RnB and Hip Hop is immensely popular among the masses. If the MTV generation is being exported to Russia, I won't have to worry about visiting anymore. |

I think it depends on which generation of Russians you're talking about.... music preferences vary greatly according to individuals as well. If you're talking about teens, there's a lot of MTV-ization and Russian 'popsa' copycats that come and go all the time.
Russians listen to all kinds of music these days and they have their home-grown musicians for almost all kinds of music. |

The last 2 years there are very popular disco music hits of 80's or its remakes among mid-generation. |

| i think it's no use saying " russians like russian music" or " russians prefer r'n'b but still they are punks"... all russian people are people whos tastes differ, all styles and kinds are popular |

You have to listen to a song like the recent hit "Chyorniy Bumer" (Black BMW) to understand Russian music. This song clearly has a Rap or HipHop feel about it at the beginning, but it is done in a very Russian way. And then, the chorus comes in and it is almost like a traditional Russian folksong. But this is not folk, and it's not HipHop. It is Russian pop music.
Russians don't need to imitate other kinds of music because they have such a wide variety of their own music. But nevertheless, some Russian bands seem to thrive on imitation, like 5-nizza who sound like a genuine Jamaican reggae band.
You got to hear Russian music to understand.
The biggest variety is on http://www.vor.ru but you get more contemporary music on http://www.rusradio.ru. And by listening to these Internet radio stations, you will learn a lot of Russian as well. |

I have trouble playing any russian radio stations on my computer, my media player always says " this page cannot be displayed" any suggestions? Or is my computer just too old to handle those kind of files?

I had a similar problem with internet radio stations. You may want to update your media player version... Having an old version might well cause it. Or maybe try a Real audio station (in Real player) and see what happens then...
And test your players against this list i just created on the forum
