I have been e-mailing with a gal. She seems very nice. I was just wondering if some things are true. She lives in Berdsk and she tells me that very very few people in town have telephone service(1-2 in the whole town). Is this true?

How do most people in Russia get around? By train, busses , or cars.

How do most people in Russia feel about Americans

Thank you for your anwser in advance

Gman, if she's from Berdsk that is near Novosibirsk, she's either still sometime in the middle of the last century or she's lying to you.

Berdsk is a small town, but to say that only 1 or 2 people have telephones would be crazy. Take a look at the official website of Berdsk at http://berdsk.al.ru/ (there's an English version as well) and see how many companies that advertise there have telephone numbers.

To answer the other questions:
most of Russians get around by buses or walking

most people in Russia feel indifferent towards Americans and have a strong dislike for president Bush (this is what I learned making interviews for the Russian People section of our site). There's a good POST on this, actually, here: http://www.waytorussia.net/TalkLounge/viewtopic.php?p=1521&highlight=#1521 by Randy

My wife is russian (from novo kuznetsk) I have spent alot of time there, and what I have found is this..

most russsians dont care if you are black, blue, pink, orange, american, canadian, or whatever (except maybe german: this needs no explanation)

my inlaws and everyone I have met in russia treated me with respect dignity and welcomed me into their hearts and homes without hesitation, I have traveled all over the world and felt more welcome in russia, than in most countries I have visited. Russians are AWESOME!!!!!, fun, and friendly, the food is great and the drink better!

My suggestion GMAN is this, if you feel nervous then check on her, go to google and type in "RUSSIAN SCAMMERS" and you will find tons of information about women who are not honest..
