There is no best, it is according to people preferance.
As for me, it is not original, but really like Tchaikosky.
If you like piano, I recommand you Sergei Prokofiev.

Rachmaninov, definitely. have this beautiful set of his in which he plays his own works on the piano...

though.. speaking about composers... i think it was a russian that once said that all composers are germans? Wink

Tchaikovsky is probably the best. His music is very emotional. His life was intriguing as well as his death (a subject for conspiratory). Movies about him has been made.

Prokofiev is close... I think his music is the most Russian of all, just listen to the national anthem, yes he is the one behind it. His first symphony is in my opinion the best classical work ever composed, so full of joy, definitely a work of a young musical genius.

Or what about Stravinsky? I have his 'Oedipus Rex' at home. He is a master of Rhytm. The choir in this piece progressing slowly towards Oedipus' doom for about an hour..
