thank you ronie for reply, but I have big problem.......this company is not answering my e-mails and I am very worried that this is a scam company, is there any way you can try to contact from saint petersburg or perhaps you have heard of them? the company is STN and the web address is www.saint-petersburg-apartments.com
they seem very professional from website and then when I try to contact them directly with reply from their e-mails it tells me that this is bad e-mail address or I get no answer at all! So I went back to web site and contacted them thru their server as a new client, and then they answered me, very weird to me...........I am worried because I have paid deposit and have no idea if this is legit, if not I have lost $150 dollars and still have no apartment in high season in saint petes..........help!!!! |

Well I am happy to report that all is well, I finally did talk to someone on the phone and got a reply to my e-mail as well, it seems they are having problems with their e-mail, but if you want to check them out as a company that would be great, their website has a number in Saint Petes you can call.......have you ever heard of this company?? Anyway, I feel much better, but still can't find out much about them.........oh well! If you decide to check it out let me know.......thanks!!!!! |

| I saw phone number on site. I don't know who are they, probably not big company. But doesn't mean that service will be not good. I am sure everything will work out perfect. Email problems may happen. |

Hi.... I stayed at a mini hotel (apartment) in the same street in Decmeber 2005. I am not sure how experienced a traveller you are but, be aware of a few things:
Even with a map, and a fluent speaking Russian travelling companion, we had trouble finding the entrance door to the apartment. Do not expect that it will front on to the Pushkinskaya street. You may find the door is located at the rear, down an alley and off a court yard. In the dark, we had fun finding it !!! But, make sure you have a contact phone number and perhaps can organse for some one to meet you on the street, if you need.
Also, be aware that, depending on the size of the hotel / apartment you have organised, the "manager" may not be resident "full time". If the manager is not resident full time, you will need to be exact when organising your arrival time so they can be there to provide keys, etc.
Do not panic about delays in response from various organisation. Do some research ... and use common sense. Like yourself, I tended to panic in the early stages when organising things in Russia, especially since I was using the internet for bookings and communication. However, I found that the people with whom I came in contact were honest, courteous, friendly, and helpful. But, things take a little longer to happen. That is part of the charm of the country. Do not try to change it... go with the flow.
I stayed at the Equi Budget Mini Hotel ... it was great! Email me at nic_ring@yahoo.com.au if you want more information or advice.
You WILL enjoy yourself.

I've been reading about some the experiences regarding hotels in St Pete. I have been in contact with a place called the Butterfly Hotel on Vladimirsky pr just off of Nevsky. I have been quoted a rate of 50 Euro. This seems very reaonable. The place looks adequate in the pictures. Anyone know anthing about this place ?
It's been 14 years since I've been in Russia (St. Pete). I spent three months there after graduating from college. I spoke Russian better then. I've been studying a bit. Should be interesting
I will take the train from St. Pete to Moscow, probably the Red Arrow for over night. Three nights in Moscow and fly from Moscow to Berlin. I'll check the moscow section for hotels there ! |
