|
|
...you know, for place to ask for general info that's not really travel or specific-city related but Russia-related... a lot of it gets mixed up in Talk Lounge, Moscow, St Petersburg or Rest of Russia although it may be applicable to all of Russia. For example, 'where can I find an electronic translator'? 'how should i dress for winter?' 'anyone knows a good express mail service?' or the likes of that...
I think we shoud leave Talk Lounge for chat-like topics and debates.
And also, maybe we should have a Tech Support or Forum Issues forum so that mods can get to problems quickly without having to browse through all the threads?
What do you guys think? |

| Who would want to go to the same thread for ALL info? It will quickly become cluttered and chaotic. Hence, horrible idea. |

That's what's happening in talk lounge.
BTW what about the Tech Support/Forum Issues idea? |

Sounds good. I've seen this on another site where members can go and post if any problems in this area occur - like problems with links, etc. There is even a Sticky thread in the forum that contained a listing and it was titled Currently Blocked Users.
Here's another idea, I know this was brought up not too long ago, but has there been some serious considerations to start a 'Russian Language Forum'? This makes sense considering this site is geared towards traveling / life in Russia, and such a forum could function as a learning tool for helping members studying and understanding the language. It could also be a place where the native speakers we have on WTR could interact with the newbie speakers for help, advice, tips, etc. In fact, we could even exchange sound bites for pronunciation help.
Just a thought . . . |

M.S..
I like that you are thinking creatively. I'm not sure we need a new forum for general info. stuff. Though it wouldn't be terrible either! I do like the idea and suggestion of a Russian language forum. But I myself need tech. support to do this! You and Rick btw are doing a great job! On behalf of WTR a BIG THANK YOU!!!! |

Yes, Russian Language Forum is a great idea. I'll add it now. Tech forum -- I don't know. Maybe we could make Feedback forum where people can post what they think about the site in general and the forum in particular -- let me know by PM what you think or in this thread (then it'll be the first to be moved to the Feedback forum). |

Dmitri,
I think and I know others will agree that a Russian language forum on WTR will be valuable in many ways! Thank you for your underzatanding and ability to make this happen. Also for the record, thanks for allowing Mediashark and Rick to help out as mods. I think a sign of strength is when people are not afraid to get assistance. It makes for more powerful results! And I think you chose good people here!
While I realize you have concerns about starting any kind of tech forum, perhaps there are members here with technical expertise that could moderate such a forum to enable posters to obtain what is needed to participate in Russian converation on WTR., oH YEah, WTR ROCKS!!!! |
