i have no answer to you question, but i was wondering if anyone can tell me whether the consulate in london requires original copies of the invitation. their website is confusing because, on the one hand, it says, "An original Tourist Voucher from a British (Russian) travel agency stamped and signed by an authorized person", but, on the other hand, it also says, "Original documents are preferable. We are willing to consider photocopied or faxed documents, but we reserve the right to request originals if the need arises".
anyone with experience dealing with this particular consulate?...
many thanks. |

If you want the original invitation letter, you should ask for it. normally they don`t send the original by mail, because in most of the consulate a photocopy will do.
I needed the original one and had to ask for it. It was sent quite quickly. If I were you I would check with the embassy whether you really need it, because they only want to send it by UPS, which is quite expensive. |

| i got a reply from the visa support company, and i'm not a happy camper. they want $50 to post the original. this wasn't clearly advertised anywhere when i ordered the invitation. $50 is how much extra it would have cost me to have an agency handle the whole visa process for me. as a full-time student on a limited budget, i chose to do it myself. now i find out that the invitation that i had posted to the consulate may be no good. what did i pay $30 for to begin with? if my visa application is rejected because of this, it will cost me a fortune to get one last minute. ugh. as if there wasn't enough stress in planning a month-long trip to begin with. |
