E, you have a PM forthcoming re: market for my kitsch. Wink

And while I consider myself ideally a socialist, this is a capitalist world, no doubt about it. I'm gonna get my piece of the pie, and if that means doing things that I'm against on principle (like buying low and selling high Cool ), then that's the way it goes.

As I mentioned before, I'm not trying to be someone I'm not, but I plan to live damned comfortably in Moscow, hence I plan to find some way to subsidize my "income" (it's actually all outgo) while I'm in Moscow, and I'm hoping that kitsch exports fit that need. If not, I'll figure something else out.

OK, someone I know is constantly buying Eastern European Soviet era kitsch on Ebay for ridiculous prices and I'm constantly telling him: wtf would you spend good money on that junk? Make good friends with a Polish family and they will give you their Lenin stamps, ugly flags and old ration cards for free! They might even thank you for ridding them of that crap!

It's beyond me why someone would fervently want, let alone give 100 bucks for something my neighbors in Poland packed into a box and dumped in the basement in the early 80s.This is sh*t I wouldn't give one dollar for, let alone 100.

If any kitsch, just so long as it was made during Communism and has Lenin on it, sells for that much, I think my grandmother just found herself a new line of work. Cool

"My bad!"
" rascist trolls"
avatar of Ali G?
hes my manz.

what other cool pop comments can you make?

btw how many Russians know of the big time Ali G? or powderfull girs etc?

I seriosly doubt wwwadim has a clue. so what's your point of posting a fake photo that Most Russians and indeed many other don't have a clue about here? Not everybody on this forum I pray is into pop culture heros. And why is he your hero anyway? let me guess he makes fun Americans, especially the whiteys who don't dress good or live in the big cities? E you love to call the kettle black. Confused

When your son starts watching MTV, he'll be happy to explain all these things to you. Wink Thanks to me, my parents now know Bjork is not a ninth century Viking.

Bjork? Viking? LOL! Really? Laughing

I know Lee was in Summer of Sam, he was the reporter and he was in Do the Right thing as that pizza delivery guy. But Malcolm X? What part was he in that movie?

Geez Cyndy, even when you were warned by both the moderators twice over not to flame, you do it anyway. Maybe they should get your special ed teacher to warn you.

Besides, i'm not at all worried about the other people on this forum --its not like I know them personally, particulary you, as to whether or not Russians know or care about Ali g (which i'm sure it comes on over there) as much as Daria cares about the powderpuff girls or Kat about Scooby Doo. Both girls are Russians who put up pop culture figures as their avatars too. I'm here to learn about Russia, meet Russians, and other like minded people. Not to continuosly flame some handicapped troll over and over again.

As we've told your retarded butt numerous times, you can either ignore me or leave the forum cuz you're seriously breaking the rules again . So can it Cyndy.

Excuse me, but I do not know, who is big time Ali G. I do not know his creativity.

For example, in fact until recently I did not know about brand of American vehicle Infinity.

All this local brands including big time Ali G is also the brand under which producers sell his music, as well as music of group TaTu (Tatoo) and our local musical groups.

In fact the russian vehicles VAZ, GAZ, UAZ are also anywhere do not know.

Alex is not your typical child. While he does love tv, namely cartoons, the Simpsons are his favorite, he has some pecularities. I have recently become aware that he has many signs of mild Autism, Asberger's Syndrome. This is a disability that affects about one in 1000 children worldwide. Cause is unknown but both genetic and environmental causes are likely. He has been such a healthy baby, toddler and boy and so smart. So it has been hard for me and my husband to even conceive that this beautiful, intelligent boy has special neurological issues. But from preschool on, he has had difficulty. He has sensory problems where he is hyper sensitive to noise, smell. He gets focused on one thing and it is almost impossible to detract his attention on that thing. He can not sit still. He loves his video games and TV but has almost no interest in sports, the outdoors and fantasy play. And there are other symptoms and signs.

I am sorry to say all of thisl this. In fact it is a very recent realization. I am working closely with his teachers and others to get Alex what ever special help he may need. Thank God public schools here recognize and support special education. I know this is not photo relevant, but my day today was spent on this issue at my son's school. We are just beginning to address this problem. MTV is the last of my or my son's concerns at the moment.

That's like saying, 'Who would pay thousands of dollars for a Waffen-SS helmet, or a Fallschirmjaeger ammo belt?" Collectors. Obviously the Soviets, lasting far longer than 12 years, produced a lot more stuff so it's worth less. But to those of us who are military history buffs, collectors, etc. it can be worth it. I never paid $100 for anything I have, but some people are willing to (mostly for really large, obscure-ish Soviet flags) and who am I to turn down their hard-earned money? Very Happy

Thanks for the compliment, Cyndy. Wink

That would be me, I’m guilty as charged; I collect useless Eastern European Soviet era kitsch. Very Happy And trust me everyone, she does ask me why the f*ck I would spend my money on these things. Smile I buy the stuff because I like collecting; collecting gives me some feeling of happiness and pride. I also collect airline models and other useless airline stuff. I guess it is what makes me different and quirky then other people in this world. And to some extend weird. Laughing

Oh I forgot! Agatha have you have you found me a Polish family that will let me rid them of there useless PRL era stuff?

Oh I'm so sorry Cyndy. Sad My cousin, Eddie, suffers from Asberger’s. He also has Schizophrenia, ADD, and OCD. The list goes on and on unfortunately. If he is unfortunately diagnosed with the disease you will be happy to know there is an incredible support system made up of parents who have children that suffer from the disease. My aunt has found comfort in some of these web sites. But let’s hope he doesn’t have it!

OMG, Cyndy I'm so sorry! Crying or Very sad I've met children with Asberger's Syndrome and oh god. But isn't it obvious from a very early age? If he had it, wouldn't he have shown signs before age seven? Did you go to more than a few doctors on this?

Agatha and Zach,
I appreciate your concern about my son. No, it is not definiate yet but I need to face facts that he some some type of learning disorder. Actually if he does have a mild form of Autism it isn't so terrible. He is not inflicted with any serios mental disoder for example. We are just starting the testing and diagnostic process.

Disabilities btw are not the end of the world. Though when you 1st become aware that you or a loved one has some type of disabling condition it indeed is a shock.

But E you are really low in stereotyping "handicapped " people as inferior and retards. You disgust me. And you disust others here as well. You are going to be one backwards attorney if you are even so lucky to pass the Bar. You are one self centered egotistical sociopath. BTW there is a diagnosis for you in the DSM, THE DEFINITIVE PSYCHIATRIC Diagnostic Bible in the US. You make my beautiful son look so superior intellectuallyt, saocially etc. Evil or Very Mad

Yes you’re right Agatha he would have. My cousin exhibited signs from birth that he was autistic and wasn’t diagnosed until he was 10.

Zach and Agatha,
All people and disabilities are not quite so typical. For example while some children clearly show signs of autism before age 3, others do not. Even children and adults with very similar disabilities have quite unique traits related to that disability. So please do not generalize here. I know you mean well truly but there is far more involved than you know. Smile I btw am not scolding you but think you should understand the complexities here!
