Sometimes things in life do make sense. I had been priocrastinating as towhere I would send my son during the day this summer when I work. Today 2 thiungs happened. First I contacted the day cap he attended last summer to get application. Then I received an email from a new organization called Russianplus. They are hol-ding a summer camp at Smith College, which is 10 minutes away from our house. Thisorganization is run by Russians who are educators and now reside in US. Last Autumn I took Alex to their Russian school for children on Saturdays also at Smith College. Unfortunately at that time the focus was on teaching Russian language, chess, mathematics etc. My son was bored, bored, bored. He gets distracted in his American classroom so you can only imagine how uninterested he was toi go to Russian class on Saturdays! But the camp they have planned for this summer looks very good. For one thing, Smith College is a very pretigious college in US. The campus is beautiful, historic and has so many resources like athletic fields, computer labs, olympic size pool, botanic gardens, a pond, and more. The schedule for the Russian camp offers many fun activites as well as exposure and lessons on Russian language, chess, culture etc. So I am excited about this camp. Especially since we will have been in Russia at beginning of summer. The director has offered us half price discount because this camp is very expensive and I expressed concerns about affordability but strong interest. The only glitch is they need to get enough children to attend to go forward. They have an open house this Saturday which I will attend with Alex. I really hope the camp goes forward. It's wonderful that there arte these opportunities where I live to keep Russian culture alive with my son. Renwan I think you will be pleased!

This sounds great! Sorry to hear your son was bored the first time, but Russian grammar and chess lessons are a bit dry - interesting, but dry. Wink

I wish I'd had similar opportunities for cultural awareness when I was a kid!
