Laughing Hey, it was still hilarious!

Part of the problem is that the people I hang out with now are non-drinkers. So I have no one to booze with.:Sigh: What's a person to do?

Find some boozier friends. I too enjoy drinking alone to some extent. I'm not much of a social animal. I even sit and drink alone in bars. But usually if you do that, someone will spoil your "alone buzz" by coming up to you and try to start up a conversation. I'm actually drinking alone right now. Just beer though.Gotta work in the morning.

I;m not much of a dancer either. It takes away from quality drinking time.

You know . . . after reading everyone's responses to this topic, I've learned I have a lot more in common with my fellow WTR compatriots than I thought!!

Hey, I'm drinking alone right now. Cheers to that. It IS a lot of fun. Maybe it's an introverted thing, or maybe it depends on how alcohol affects you. I find alcohol makes me kind of contemplative, (that is, unless I get really, really drunk, at which point I become festive.) At any rate, I'd rather get drunk alone than get drunk while someone bellows conversation at me over a blaring stereo. What's the fun of that?

Drinking alone is as lame as non-alcoholic beer. Where is the fun in that?

Two of the greatest inventions of all time: the Pub/Bar and the Bartender are testament to drinking in groups.

BTW alcohol fueled dancing or drunken dancing is an international pastime. How else can some people even dance? Laughing

Being drunk doesn't make you a better dancer. It might make you think you can dance Laughing

The last few times I've drunk with someone else, it was an absolutely miserable experience; it was uncomfortable and embarrassing for everyone. Wish I went by myself rather than with those duds.

There's no really a problem of getting drunk in bar in Moscow. If you can afford paying for drinks inside the bar or club in Moscow, I can guarantee you that the taxi-lada would not be very expensive (never pay more than 200 rubles if you live in downtown). Also, what do you mean with getting drunk? you meant to be happy or not even able to walk? If you can't walk you will have a problem even at home.
BTW some people in this forum don't seem to see a problem with drinking alone. Just scary

If you are visibly drunk going down a street (swaying from side to side, falling down) you will get stopped by cops and taken to an 'otrezvitel' where you will be given a fine and a cold shower and possibly a kick in the ass. If you can maintain control of yourself while drunk, head home and you should have no problems.
I can keep in control, but once I really had to take a leak so I did not look that sober from the side since I was swaying and looking for a nice tree that was out of sight. So cops thought that I was a druggie, searched me for needles and then just let me go. (I had money in my wallet, they looked inside there too but did not take anything, and even told me to look so that there would not be any accusations later)

Another time was after a competition in Volgograd where it was me and some other friends who were sort of drunk. This day coincided with the end of the school year so the cops were on high alert for drunk teens. Well, a couple cops stopped us, loaded us into an UAZ jeep (my friend was in my lap cause there was not enough room for all of us.) At the station we were in a holding cell for a while with some hookers (My friend was talking to one and then puked all over her - that was the highlight of that evening) Well, they let us go without charges and without bribes after a chat with them that drinking in public is bad Wink The guy was actually lecturing us - in his place I would have given a nice kick in the ass.

So moral is - either drink at home with friends, at a datcha or a club when you have a ride or ordered a taxi.
