Do you mean by having big celebrations and so forth? MosNews had an interesting pictorial about that - very different from the US! I remember I didn't even want to go to my high school graduation because I was missing work! Oh, those were the days.
Since I'll be in Moscow, not Pitr, is making the trip to Estonia worth it? I really want to see Tallinn, but I'm not sure why. I just feel drawn to it. Same with Riga and Vilnius.
Well, glad you had a safe and enjoyable trip, Cyndy! |

El Casey,
I suspect you will be awile in Moscow. At some point, not at the beginning of your stay, but when you feel more comfortable and ready for a change, I whole heartedly reccommend that you visit Tallinn, and their beautiful charming island Sarrameea in Estonia. Perhaps because I love mideival cities, surrounded by walls, with castles, cobble stone streets, exquisite churches etc., Old Town in Tallinn made my heart sing. The old town however does have a big pitch towArd tourasim, even so, it is worth visiting. And my highlight to Estonia, aside fgrom visiting with my friends, was taking the ferry from TALLINN TO Sarramaaea. It is a lovely island. I think it resembles the real Estonia. Be sure to visit the capital city, Kurresarre, extremely charming; Kalli, the site where the meteor landed 4,000 years ago; the windmills and of course the light house on the Baltic. Look for the swans! But do go in decent weather. It is well worth the trip! |

| Tallinn was gorgeous and majestic in the Soviet times, so I am certain it's just great now when it's open to tourists and when the country itself (Estonia) is developing fast and has a veriety of hotels, restaurants and clubs. |

| Tallinn is beatiful so as Riga. In my opinion if I had to choose I would go to Tallinn. The only problem that both cities have is that are full of tourist, too many low-cost companies travelling there. Vilnius isn´t as beatiful as the cities mentioned before (just churches) but there's less tourism and is more russian |
