Just recently I started to go back to my questions about contamination and pollution in this country.
I wonder how about the impact of WWII in health. All of this came again when i notice that people around me (who I have seen more than once) with skin problems (they had already or they are having). From outside, I can say is the 'same thing'.

Are there studies about this?
is there any result or formal publication about this topic?
I am almost sure that there must be consecuencies/effects; my question is at which level, etc.

I'm sure you can find plenty on pollution and ecological problems. Papers are likely to be in Russian only though.

Skin problems may not link to pollution alone. I had skin problems back home, but not here, although Moscow is far more polluted. It was mostly due to the climate, not the pollutants.

But WWII? It ended more than 60 years ago. You could try to dig up something on military hardware plants and factories and the environmental impacts related to their operations.

If you can read Russian, try to search using Yandex or Rambler.

I have no idea what skin problems could result from pollution, but I can't recall having seen more or less skin problems in Moscow than anywhere else. Russians tend to have more moles, I think, and I guess that's more genetics than anything else, but whatever.

What might be an interesting read for you is Murray Feschback's English language book called "Ecocide". He's one of the leading sociology experts on the former Soviet Union and Russia. His book catalogs the myriad problems that exist here.

Some consider Feschback exagerrates his numbers, and judging from some of what he says, it seems a distinct possibility, but even if his stats are a tenth of what he says, it's still pretty friggin scary.

Hope that helps.
