This will be my third entry into russian in two years. ( i have to leave in two days since my current tourist visa expires and will attempt re-entry on a business visa...) i have used tourist visas in the past but for varying reasons i now want to remain 3 months in russia. a business visa was recommended as my best option. can i get a business invitation without actually having a business prospect or agenda? please help. it is urgent and important.
also, i am travelling for the next 6 months so i have no permanent address at the moment. ( i use my mother's address in the u.s.--i am NOT a u.s. citizen). will i be able to pick up my business visa in the country i am in at the moment (italia) provided they have a russian consulate there?

Spasibo Bolshoi for your help.

Yes you can do this. Your best best is to do this from the US if possible. There are several agencies that can get the invitation for you. There is a three week waiting period usually but it can be done. You do not need to have any business affiliation to do this. Most of these companies send the invitiation to you and you can then send it to the consultate where you are. The Russian Embassies in the US are the easiest from what I have been told, especially if you have been in Russia before.
