Dear Dimitri

Have I got this right?
Through way to Russia I can buy a ticket for Moscow - Irkutsk and Irkutsk to Beijing, adding £20 for each stopover?
I would like to stop in Ekaterinburg to hike the Urals
or are the Altai mountains better? (stop in Novosibirsk?)
Lake Baikal to dive (do you know of a diving company?)
Ulan Ude
Ulaan Bataar
Would that be £100 extra then for the 5 stops?
Or do I buy a ticket for each section?

Thanks
Andri

Hi,

Yes, it's correct, through the company that advertises its services on our site you can buy the train tickets you were talking about.

I don't think it is good to hike in Urals, Altai mountains are much more interesting. I went there last summer and you can fine a full guide to Altai on our site. You will need to go to Novosibirsk (which is a very nice city too!) and then get to Gorno-Altaysk. It's a bit far though, so maybe you'll want to hire a guide with a car. Maybe you could hike also near Baikal lake, which is interesting too. There's also a rafting trip near Krasnoyarsk in the end of June -- http://www.ethnolife.ru -- for more info (just click on e-mail and write to them in English, if you can't read Russian).

Regarding the diving company in Baikal -- check out our Baikal guide, there are a lot of links to various good and reliable travel agencies.

Regarding the ticket price -- it all depends. I propose you submit the request, and then you will receive a quote and if you like it, you can order the tickets. Keep in mind though that the price will be higher than at a railway station, because of the taxes, commissions, etc. But it is fair.
