| I want to travel by train from Kiev to Krasnodar. The route goes via Rostov - I think and the trip lasts 24 hours. I am going to travel with my infant son and my Russian wife. I see the 2nd class tickets are much cheaper than the first class tickets. Is it worth travelling by first class in Russian trains or is second class good enough as well? I can afford both but don't want to spend an excessive amount of cash if sencond class train travelling is noce enough. |

Difference between 1st class and 2nd class is a huge.
Simply look at these photos.
2nd class vagon called 'platskartniy':

1st class 'kupe' is much better. Places are isolated, more comfortable
If your way more than 16+ hours I'd reccomend you to use 1st class.
Anyway if your travel is during night best variant is 1st class.
Usually in Russia province 2nd class used by poor people, babushkas, drunked men, brutal people.
As for me, I'd reccomend you to use 1st class cupe. |

| Use the 1-st class only. Especially with a child. |

| If the rif-raf use 2nd class like you say they do, I'd hate to think who uses the 3rd class dormatory coaches! |

| Take the first class definitely and hope you'll have good cabin neighbours. more comfortable, and even quite fun. |

AFAIK, maybe this name is 'Yadrin'?
There only one town called 'Yadri*' in Chuvashia.
1. If you have a car simply drive by M-7 Highway to East. Moscow - Vladimir -Nizhniy Novgorod - Lyskovo then Yadrin.
Here you go: http://maps.yandex.ru/map_search.xml?map=5&lay=28&id=2343&text=%DF%E4%F0%E8%ED
2. Or use buses from Moscow to Cheboksary. Ask the driver if this bus go through Yadrin. If do then ask him to stop there. Else go to Cheboksary then use local buses to reach Yadrin (77 kilometers).
Moscow bus station is situated near metro station 'Shchyolkovskaya' (last subway station of dark blue line at Moscow's east).
3. About train. I think it is difficult to use trains there. The nearest station rather far away from town (89 km). May use train Moscow - Cheboksary, then local bus from Cheboksary to Yadrin.
4. Also by plane: Moscow - Cheboksary. then local bus from Cheboksary to Yadrin.
For more information use this site: http://yadrin.narod.ru/ (only Russian language)
To look some photos of town Yadrin: http://foto.cheb.ru/cat124/
By the way Yadrin is typical provincial small town. Be careful there. Not take much cash there, expencive cameras, phones and try to wear some dark clothes (cheap blue jeans and dark jacket). And indeed there no one talk language except russian and chuvash.
Maybe in this town there are no problem with crime and crazy alcoholics, but if you have posibility to find out some extra information from locals - do this.
Good luck! |
