I know I am not the first or last to say that this forum has grown weary. There are now just a handful of regular posters. Yes it is what people make it. I know people come and go and that's fine. And there are others who have perhaps deeper ties and maintain connections. I am glad that WTR is foremost an informational site for anywone who wants to visit Russia. But the chit chat forum really has become stale and biased. Time for a break is what I say and the dog days of August in New England only welcome this.

Maybe it's because it's more closely monitored by moderators now.Don't get me wrong, something had to be done about the likes of Winston, but since it's become more of a travel forum (which I'm sure was it's original intent) and it's gotten kind of boring.Seems like there's no more playful banter.

Since someone has taken it upon themselves to seek out all my posts... (oh no need to mention who I think you all get the picture) Very Happy

How is that for a playful banter?

Well it takes time for any one member to become a 'regular'. I was pretty upset myself that we had to ban Paul, but he hasn't attempted to return to the forum or even told me he wanted to. For most part we hadn't banned any more members besides Winston, Paul and Xela/e_basher. We usually get plenty of spam, and the reason why you see there are so many 'members' registered is because much of it are just spam bots that auto-register themselves to the database. I don't know what happened to Skip, kiwiguy or uday. Usually they are the hell-raising (i.e. fun) ones.

As for myself, I am not so keen to get too involved in the hot discussions. I guess the mundane task of deleting spam and unwanted ads has really taken the fun out of the forum for me.

cyndy - You keep complaining about this forum. You have complained in the past. This forum is what people make of it. The fact is that very few people in the West care enough about Russia to be regulars on this forum. I am not surprised to see very few people here.

mr spice

it has nothing to do with the west not caring.

it has to do with russia and russians being interesting. and i belive russia and most importantly the people are interesting. and most western people are beginning to notice. as russia changes and the younger generation embraces the west and the west embraces russia there will be a huge change.

for now it is the russian people that need to appear interesting to attract the interest of other nations.

its all a matter of time.....

neilrowland: About sense of humor, you muust have met really dull russians. Humor and comedy has always been a big business in Russia. There are lots of comedy and variety shows, and some comedians have the status of rock stars in Russia. Both St Petersburg and Moscow have well respected theaters dedicated to comedies - from Sharekspear to Neil Simon. Just wanted to let you know.
