Why is MrSpice called MrSpice?
There is obviously no spice in his life, other wise he wouldnt be so self opinionated, objectionable and arguementative.
ONE glass of red wine ONCE a week!!!!! oh joy....... dont go too far you might get merry.
By the way what do you do with the rest of the bottle???
Smoking in restaurants is wrong, you go to eat and taste the food not tobbacco smoke.
Vodka has no bad qualities; it warms the body and the soul, it wakes up the brain, it breaks down barriers between people, it gives courage and wlsh yer noos de reeest................
Any bad qualities associated with drinking vodka are all created by human nature. So dont blame the Vodka.....
MrSpice maybe it should be MrNice!!!!! |

Neilrowland people are all different. Mr. Spice likewise is entitled to his opinions and life style. I don't think Mr. Spice is boring, just conservative. I think his opinions are always thoughful whether I agree or not. But it is interesting he calls himself Mr. Spice! |

Why should anyone drink vodka (or anything else for that matter) for effect rather than taste? Some of the best drinks known to mankind are alcoholic drinks... so many variations, complex flavour, and all the work that goes into making that perfect glass of wine, vodka, whisky etc.
Mr Spice enjoys his drink in a different way, but neverthelesss, still enjoyment.
Recently I've been going for weeks on end without even touching alcohol, but I find that I do enjoy beer, vodka, wine etc. much more than I used to. Absence makes a heart grow fonder? Hehe maybe. Well, things in moderation often makes things enjoyable as well.
Vodka--connecting people!
Oh BTW who wants a recipe for vodka pasta sauce? |

neilrowland: I think you should be called MrNail. Feel free to change your nick at any time.
As far as e's comments that Russians would not throw a wedding in a local restaurant, he cannot be any more wrong: actually that is how most russians celebrate weddings (I did celebrate mine at a local restaurant, recently). Most of the business that russian restaurants do here in New York is weddings, birthdays, etc.
Actually, there are quite a few russian cafes and restaurants in Brooklyn where you can have a decent meal for $10-15. I think it's difficult to explain the relative popularity of asian food by the cost of ingridients alone. I think the fact that large number of asian immigrants came here in the 40 and 50 helps. However, millions of Jewish immigrants came from Russian and Ukraine in the beginning of the century - that did not create any wave of russian cooking here in the US. Many russians escaped the revolution and settled in the US and France but still, there are not too many russian restaurants even in France. It's easier to find a Malasian or Thai restaurant in Paris than russian restaurant. I think it has more to do with what people like and prefer. Somehow, asian foods become very popular quickly. There are not too many Japanese immigrants in New York. Yet, sushi is extremely popular here. There are some blocks in the city where you can find 4-5 sushi restaurants on just one block. IN any happening area - like Greenwich Village - you will find hundreds of sushi and Japanese restaurants and no russian restaurants (and very few french restaurants).
I think we need a help of an expert to clear this out. It's an interesting question and I don't know the answer to that question. |

| Cyndy: To restate the worn out phrase, I am am very liberal on social issues and very conservative on the fiscal/economic issues. In short, I would like to see as little govenrment intervention in people's lives as possible. I don't think I am conservative in any way from social stadpoint. |

Are you saying you are a compassionate conservative like GW Bush?
If so, I don't know about your self perception of liberalness when it comes to social problems. Can you believe the gross imcompetence and apathy of our president and his administration with regards to the current crisis in New Orleans and Mississippi? I am ashamed of this gov't. Thousands of Americans, mainly poor are dying as a result of the gov't's failure to intervene more swiftly. |

| cyndy: No I am not like GW, since I don't believe in mixing religion and politics, I am not pro-life in any way, I am for the right of people to marry no matter whoever and however they want. And GW Bush did not reduce the size of the government. In fact, the government spending levels are through the roof. And the Iraq War does not seem to be going well at all. So, I am hardly a fan of GW Bush, even though I agree with some - onely some - of his economic policies (i.e., free trade, lower taxes, etc.) |

GW Bush likes to eat too :)) I think that's all he does lately :)
Anyway, what about the food? Where is the healthy food discussion?
Why don't we all list our favorite russian dishes?
Also, why Kvas is not popular and not even available in most western countries? |

Hush! Don't give out Russian national secrets!
Healthy food discussion? Healthy food or healthy discussion? We have neither on WTR.
I think the problem with Kvas is that it doesn't keep very well... not unlike vodka that has the shelf life of a rock. |
