|
|
I have a few quick (hopefully) questions about the visa procedures for US citizens. I'm applying at the embassy in Tokyo, if that makes a difference, and I bought visa support through your site last week (thanks!)..
#9 Russian contact organization.. Is that the address of the hotel I'll be staying at (supposedly at least)? Or can I put Intelservice Center?
#16 Name and reference # of tourist group is... Intelservice, or the the travel agent I bought trans-Mongolian tickets through? Or something else entirely?
#17 medical insurance policy valid in Russia. Can I leave this blank since I'm not an EU or Israeli citizen?
#39 the name of my hotel in Russia. Is this something I should book separately from the Intelservice visa support, or is it included?
Sorry for the barrage of questions--thanks so much--I think Russian visas must be the most baffling thing in the world! |

I can answer your questions since I have done it enough times. I don't know if it matters where you are at though, I would imagine not.
#9- Yes put the company that issued the invitataion.
#16- Use Intelservice for this as they are the only one that probably gave you a reference number.
#17- Make sure you put yes here and don't leave it blank. You have to say that you will have medical coverage to get the visa. If you don't, you may want to get travelers insurance just in case.
#39- There should be a hotel listed on the invitation, use that one even if you have different reservations.
They actually aren't baffling once you are used to them, they just are not well written. |

The general rule is to put exactly the same information as in your visa support letter (invitation).
Ashton advised everything right, just a few comments:
#9: The address of the inviting company is written on your visa support.
#16: Write the name of the visa company that is written on your visa support
#17: Your credit card company perhaps has insurance for you, write it there (if it is true, of course), otherwise, you can get an insurance. It can be not more than $1 / day.
#39: Use the hotels that are listed in your invitation (like Ashton said) |

Hi--thanks very much for your help. I'm just about ready to mail this and hopefully get everything over with!
Two more questions: the website for the Russian Embassy in Tokyo says I need the original voucher plus a copy. I received the voucher via fax--that's not the original, is it? When I bought the original, I said I'd be applying at the Tokyo embassy. Can I apply at the Osaka embassy instead without any trouble?
The hotel address... It looks like the only address on the voucher/invitation is Intelservice Center's.. Is that the hotel address also?? |

You can apply in Osaka as well. I would try with the fax first, as it is considered to be "original" by some Russian consulates (or you can try to tell them that you think it IS original). If not -- the visa agency can send you the visa support by post.
The hotel address -- there are hotels listed in your invitation (usually, it's Rossiya in Moscow, Neva in St. Petersburg, written like Россия, Нева etc.) -- you can just put in Intelservice and copy a name of the hotel from your invitation. |
