|
|
Greetings,
I was talking to one of my friends the other day, and she said the following:
"Áëàòü! Õâàòèòü ïèòü ñóêà!"
Now, I know what these words mean, but the actual meaning isn't really clear to me. Is it some sort of slang? Thanks for the help. |

"Fuck! Enough drinking, bitch!"
Why don't you think that's swearing if you knew what the words meant? |

Get the Russian Phrase book Dermo for all slang.
Like majority of other Russian things, they have best and worst.
Many of them will never swear especially ladies and others have the most colourful expressions I have ever heard. |

Well, the dictionary (oxford) that i'm using didn't have Áëàòü, and it translated Õâàòèòü as "Snatch up", so... to me it was "[Word i didn't know], Snatch drinking, bitch!"
Thanks guys! |

I guess 'Colorful' would be one word that could start to describe my friends |

word Áëÿäü is an article!
word Ñóêà have the same meaning that japanese suffix -sama, the only difference is that Ñóêà itself points to man you are adressing to.
so, phrase you heard from one of your friends means
"excuse me, can you stop drinking beer, mister? |

Come on why are you looking at all your scholarly references... do you think the folks who say 'blyad' and 'suka' really think about those meanings? Was my translation not direct enough? |

right.
in most cases, swear words are used not to make phrase more colorful, but to fill gaps between words. Man have idea what he is going to say, but part of his brain which control speech haven't compiled thoughts to words. In this case, spinal cord takes control and sends to STDOUT words like Ñóêà Áëÿäü Ãûûû ÆÆÎÒ etc. It's impossible to understand spinal cord so just ignore them |
