Hi, I heard there were restrictions on visitors to St Pete's due to some "G8 Conference". My mates and I are looking at doing a Beetroot bus tour and were told we couldn't be in St Pete's before the 14th of June. How long is this conference on until? What restrictions are actually in place?

The restrictions are only that all the hotels are booked. I think it's only a few days in the beginning of June, so you should be allright if you come on 14th.

hi,
I just want to confirm then, if the restrictions in St petersburg actually are lifted from the 7th of June.
We had previously planned starting/entering St Pete's from teh 14th, but want to see if it is possible to enter on the 6th of June on a tour (i.e. beetroot bus) or the 7th? We have been told by Beetroot that the restrictions extend from the 14 May to the 15th of June.
What is the actual case regarding that?

Hi, this is the first I've heard of any restrictions on travellers being in St-p-b that time of year. I'm planning to go from the 29th May to the 5th June which sounds like it's right smack in the middle of this trouble period. What exactly are the restrictions or where can I go to find out about them? It would be very difficult to change my travel dates at this point - what am i in for?

The restrictions are that all hotels are booked, prices go up twicefold, airports are not working for several days.

So, if you are traveling around these dates (29 May - 5-7 June), I would recommend you to travel to Moscow instead. St. Petersburg will be packed and there will be nothing to do there.

I have booked a BA flight arriving 22nd May and booked to stay in a hostel until 30th May, how do the restrictions affect me? I cannot believe that the airports are closed, surely BA would have declinded the booking or at least informed its passengers?

BA confirm that St P's airport is closed 30th May-2nd June, just four days.
