Moscow in October

Where do you recommend staying and are there any places wher you can get a English guided tour with a group as they say not go sight see alone.

They are both nice enough places, but the Hostel is of course cheaper. I wouldn't worry about touring around Moscow by yourself. I tour alone all the time. Just make sure you can order tickets in Russian or be able to point to wich one you want and everything will be fine. Most of the main tourists places have police around so the worst that is really going to happen is you will get your pocket picked. The Police in Russia seem not to care, but I doubt they are going to let someone get their ass kicked in the middle of Red Square.
