I am very much interested in Russia and would like to identify someone to help me with what's going on in Moscow and St Petersburg, trendy places to go to, etc. Would preferably like an expat who has some idle time

| So basically you need a dedicated culture expert for free? I think it would be hard to find. What you can do instead would be to read articles online, read travel guides, read messages on this forum and then ask questions if you still have any and people will help, I am sure. |

Whoo Haaa!!! Long live the cynic!
That's really the right attitude to have when trying to encourage travel and sharing goodwill amongst fellow beings.
What's sad about it is that you thought you were saying something meaningful - what's the bet you're american? or is it that the american culture of get-all-I-can-get-for-as-little-outlay-as-possible eaten into your bones?
Yes, at base point we all want the best advice for nothing, but you know what? It's in offering that wisdom that you have stumbled upon in life freely to another, that gains you most. The chances are the most valuable advice was learned on the road when least expected, and as it was "freely gained" then freely given is where it ought go...
Wake up and smell the roses! Open your eyes and realise that all beings have something to give, and it is only as we share that we open up those places where pearls reside...
You give what you know, and be prepared to be amazed at what you get to learn in return... |

I'm quite sure that Vital Sign's post in response to wisdumb's rather lame post captures what many folks here think.
While I respect some of Wisdumb's philosophy, s/he takes it too far and appears to be not only arrogant, condescending but also prejudiced.
The quezsion is, why did this person even bother to post? Probably just another troll! |
