Hi, I am Australian in entertainment. I loved my visit to Siberia..especially Krasnoyarsk - the food is great, restaurants,great, women are sooooo beautiful, entertaine=ment and clubs are fabulous. Scenery terrific and people nice.
I hope to visit again next year...would love to stay with a normal family or even a delightful lady who would love someone to go out with and show me around Am happy to help with costs. Would love to also stay a bit more in Novosibirsk and see the sights.
Like Russia very much...and its people.

Krasnoyarsk is almost my second home, and my wife's former home. Did you go to Stolby and such? Divnogorsk? I also wish I could spend a few days more in Novosibirsk as all I've seen is the airport, station and the area in front of that!

Where do you live most of the time?
No I did not get to Stolby but wanted too, hopefully next time it will be a must!
Is Divnogorsk near the Dam?
In Novosibirsk I did not see much , but want to stay there next time and get someone to show me round and lunch with etc..

Divnogorsk is the town near the dam (Hydro dam). It used to have a massive aluminium sign and soviet wreath on the outskirts until about 2 years ago.
Stolby is worthwhile and you can catch buses to get there and hike up to it. Allow a very full day. You'll see what appears to be graffiti on the rocks but this is actually dates when people died climbing them. Take your bug spray!
Did you go up to the church at night (the old one on the hill)? A very different view of Krasnoyarsk from there.
Is the new train station complete yet??

What is your name? did you say you lived in Krasnotarsk? Thanks for thre info on the town near dam..and about the sign..
Yes I went to Chapel on the hill but went in daytime, there was a wedding there at the time so peeped in and watched and also took a photo of bride and groom out on the grass. Wonderful view from the hill, can imagine it would be great at night..and what a romantic spot at night it would be too..sorry did not get to try that sadly...
the rail station is terrific...
Must get to Stolby when I come back...love the cafes by the river.love the beer..and the music and I like to get up and dance with locals....The museum is wonderful..could have spent all day there..
when I get back I want to get out to dinner again and dance etec with Russian friends..I love you ...and can not wait to see the ones I know..including the people I met at the radio FM stations....
and want to sing again at the karaoke clubs..thank you to the russian audiences who loved my singing... |

If I return to Russia, I would go to Siberia, probably Krasnoyarsk. How large is this city? I saw a folk dance troupe from Krasnoyarsk that were amazing.
Yesterday I read an article in Smithsonian magazine while waiting to get my vehicle's oil changed. The article was about a man (I think American but could of been from UK or Australia), who went to Siberia to experience traveling the entire length of the Lena River, which is over 2,300 miles. It is the 10th largest river in the world that ventures northward to the Arctic Circle. He had trouble getting permission to go there as it is a restricted area. He contracted some Polar explorer who helped him get appropriate visas etc. He had a Moscuvite guide who essentially chooses to spend 6 months of the years in this remote area.
They traveled the river on a raft and camped along the river. It was quite an interesting article. Most of the people he met when they stopped at village centers still preferred the old soviet times than now. The nature in this remote area sounded beautiful. The river is so clean that one can drink directly from it. In any event, I think Siberia would be quite different than visiting Moscow or St. Petersburg and the ruralness of the area is more representative of how the majority of Russians live. |

I spent two weeks mostly at a time over the years when visiting my now wife. Stayed for a month during my only summer visit.
A good (maybe Skony knows whether it is still good...) place for a feed is Balkan Grill, to the left of the Hotel Krasnoyarsk as you face the Hotel.
The outdoor cafe's with beer and shaslyk are great for a night out, particularly when the sun doesn't set till about 10:30 p.m!!!!
I'm never keen on putting my name on public forums and I live about 2 1/2 hours south of you. In the city has the most BS and hotair in Australia.......

Between .9 and 1.2 million people depending on who you talk to or whose statistics you believe.
Winters are pretty savage there!!
I was lucky enough to see a full performance of the troupe and support acts in the Krasnoyarsk Theatre itself.
A Question, did they dance/walk like they were just gliding along the floor? This is their speciality and my wife says it's an enormously difficult thing to do. I couldn't believe how long they held their smiles for.......
The guys in the troupe played "dances with machete's" and my knees ached watching them doing a lot of their dances.

Yes, yes, yes, Usual Suspect,
The Krasnoyarsk dancers did have the amazingly ability to glide across the stage. I have never seen any other dancers do that. It was quite a large dance troupe traveling in the US. tHEY WORE BEAUTIFUL TRADITIONAL COSTUMES AND CHANGED A FEW TIMES. tHE MALE DANCERS WERE ALSO EXTRAORDINARY. I will never forget it. They brought their own musicians who playwed traditional Russian folk music. What a beautiful experience!

Just let me to add that in 250 km to Novosibirsk stays Tomsk city which is real ancient one with great history and it's arrounded be cedar tayga. 250 km seem funny far but in Siberia that's normal distance even for bikers  |
