It explores a lot of the issues in the former soviet union after independence. It's very funny, but also thoughtful, and a quick read too. It sounds like an interesting book, but the most interesting thing about it to me is that - I imagine - it tries to address the inevitable psychological framing of foreign cultures that happens in the American mind when we encounter the things associated with troubled civilizations. The book reviews came tantalyzingly close to addressing this themselves. Dan
