Hi everyone. Long time no see.

I am planning to meet up with a Russian friend in Paris, France. I am currently in Canada and she is in Chita, Russia.

What are the necessary steps for her to take to visit France? I am going to send her some money through Moneygram.com. She's my best friend's friend so I can trust her.

Any Suggestions or Advice?

Thank you very much. Spasibo Laughing

If I were you I would ask her to borrow money from somebody in Russia and you would pay her back once you met her in France. I do not know if she is a trustworthy person or not, but if you only spoke with her on the phone DO NOT send her money.... please?

She will figure out herself how to get a visa to France, your help is not important in this. Let her do the job and borrow money. If she is for real than your meeting will be only so much sweeter.

i was in chita - which if its the same place as i am talking about - is a region, not a city. and its in provinca. so she would have to either go to a travel agent, or get to moscow to the embassy here. either way, she has to buy a train ticket or pay a fee to the travel agent.

most russians are able to borrow money from friends, relatives, etc. its not as poor as people make it out to seem. it was an art form of finding things in soviet times, and its been passed down.

I warn you don't go to the big concrete blocks suburbs, it can be quite dangerous, there is a lot of Mafia and people of North African descent who hate the strangers, there were riots there less than two months ago.
Stick to the classical tourist routes, and try to speak a few words of French because the French people, albeit they are "the most intelligent of the universe" (say some French bosses and politicians) are very bad at foreign languages , even English (some of them even think that the English language doesn't exist, they call it "American").
You wiil be able to meet elderly Russian people (most of them of White Russian descent) at the Russian Orthodox cathedral Daru street in Paris or at the Russian cemetery in Ste Genvieve des bOIS, 30 kms south of Paris.
Good luck! Confused Confused
