Hi,
Do you know how long does it take for a normal letter posted from Western Europe to reach Russia? It is going from France to Izhevsk (near the Urals). And how reliable is the Russian postal service regarding mails lost or things like that?
Thanks in advance! |

Russian postal service is extremely unreliable, and most likely you will wait 2 to 4 weeks until your letter sent from western Europe will arrive to Russia.
On the other hand, courier services are quite reliable, but expensive -- a letter would cost you $50, but would arrive in 1-3 days.
There's also another option: WestPost (http://www.westpost.ru) -- they offer a PO box in Finland. When you send your letter to Russia, you send it to your own address in Finland, and their couriers get this letter and bring it to Russia and deliver it by themselves. Like this you gain a lot in speed (a letter to Finland takes much less) and you save money. |

If it's urgent you can use one of the services below that operate rather good in Russia nowadays. They are
DHL (phone number in Moscow 8 095 956 1000)
and UPS ( 8 095 961 2211)
There are also West Post Service (8 095 234 9038)
and City Courier Service (8 095 725 0767)
If any of those above operate in France, then your mail will be delivered within 1-3 days and given directly to the receipient which is very comfortable and safe indeed.
Of course, in this case the proverb "time is money"proves to be most true

| If youwant to make a fast transfer - go with 'Western Union'. This is the company if you want to do a fast money transfer. You do it from an office in the USA or in any EU country. It gets to Russia within about 1/2 hour. Yes it costs - about $60 for a $ 500 transfer. It is worth it if you need to do it.. The treansfer id very fast - within 1 hour.. .... Alpha bank in russia accept this - the biggest bank in Russia, of course all other Wetern Union offices too. |
