None of this is true. In fact, it's so ignorant, it's laughable.
Polygamy is not sanctioned in Russia. Hasn't been for a century. Even if you are muslim, which many millions of FSU Russians are. But not 'practising muslims'. The idea that all muslims are polygamous is also erroneous.

| I have many muslim friends... but out of all of them, I only know one who has a few wives (incidentally, he was a Russian who converted to Islam and moved to Malaysia!), and he is a rich guy. Many husbands simply can't afford more time and money for another wife (and her kids). |

Jeez...what was I saying earlier about heat and light? 
As I understand it, Islam allows men up to four wives, but they all have to be treated and provided for equally. However, while polygamy is allowed, in practice very few men actually marry multiple wives. (It seems that the first wife commonly objects! Fancy that!  )
And before anyone accuses me of ignorance, I have spent a total of about 6 months in the Persian/Arabian Gulf region, mostly in Saudi Arabia. I've also visited Egypt, Iran, Bahrain, and the UAE.
In that time I came across one guy who had two wives. Apparently he did that only because his first wife turned out to be incapable of having children. The first wife not only gave her assent to the second marriage, but went out and chose the second wife herself.   |

You are anti american, and you were quick to attack me for what you percieved as racism against chechens! Instead of just calling me an idiot, if you thought I was wrong, you launched into your hate speech about americans which shows exactly what type of person you are. You speak of ignorant islamophobia, where is that coming from? All the information I have on muslims comes from my muslim friends, which I have plenty of, otherwise I would not have even opened my mouth on the subject! You just needed a reason to attack an american, but you know what, I dont even care because its not part of this discussion and only proves who the REAL racist is! |

2. Chechens practice islam, which has something called sharia law

You are still screwing up what ive said to mean what you want it to mean, YOU ARE SICK!!! I have no reason to believe chechens are ignorant, they happen to have islam as their religion, which makes certain things acceptable in their communities, which would not be acceptable elsewhere among educated populations. Many hindu indians are computer engineers, scientists, mathmeticians etc, but its never stopped them from worshipping their idols, which is FINE FOR THEM, cause its THEIR BELIEF SYSTEM. But its not fine for anyone else outside that religion. Polygamist marriage does not work among the educated, simply because they do not want to share their mates with other women! It however does not change the fact that alot of women still agree to such marriages for economic reasons, and because their religion allows this! What part of that arent you getting????? I am sick of this thread, youve ruined it with your own ignorance and self satisfying hatred for Americans! End it already!! |

| Of course they do not all live in villages. I wouldn't think F.G. would be defending this. But a lot of them do live out in the country. Back in the 80s there was a joke among the armymen regarding how eligible for service chechen guys ended up being in the army: They went down from the mountains to the city to get groceries but were caught by the army recruiting personnel. |

Having married a muslim in Tatarstan, Russia, I can assure you and all readers here that this is not the case in the Russian Federation.
As I posted earlier:
1. All marriages in Russia are required to be registered at ZAGS. Bigamy is not allowed.
2. One does not get married in a mosque. One is married at ZAGS.
3. The details of all marriages and divorces are recorded in every Russian citizen's national passport, muslim, christian or whatever. |

Disinformation on YOUR OWN PART! Not everyone registers their marriages with the government, infact its even argued among muslims that a "civil" marriage is not considered islamic! I happen to know for a FACT that multiple marriages have occured in the mosque, in which the man must pay some form of dawlry to the woman, then the man who runs the mosque be it sheikh, imam, mullah etc. Will then go and have them sign their names. This information does not need to be shared with the government, because all they care about is that their marriage is recognised in their community, which it always is! Some men do this in order to avoid having to divorce their first wives, so they marry another and go reside with her, while sending the first wife money for neccesities! Just because you say it is against the law does not mean that muslims will abide by that law, because it interfers with their religious rights. Multiple marriages may not take place so much in bigger cities, but in rural areas they for sure occur!  Now if youll excuse me im late for my white power rally!! |
