Hi everybody.
We're thinking about setting up a regular chat, where all the visitors could meet, say, once a week, and talk together real time.
What do you think could be a good time to do it? How often?
I was thinking about Thursday or Friday every week at about 4pm GMT (11am New York), do you think this is a good time? |

Will it be less moderated than the forum? I like the idea, but I think if the chat is less restrictive more people will be able to talk about whatever they feel they want to talk about thus more interested in stopping by. |

Well.. no way I am going to moderate a real-time chat like we do on the forum
I like the idea.. It will probably work best if a couple of regulars are online too. Chances seem to be best if it runs at office hours in the US |

Come on people, why only 1 person thinks it's a good idea AND will join?
I don't believe that if I offered to meet all together at a specific time you wouldn't come. Please, give me a good time to make this regular thing going on... Rick? |

I'm not too keen on the idea. A lot of us are scattered all over the globe and only log on now and then for a few hours at most. it would be hard enough to get enough people in one chat room at the same time and get them to chat about something and keep it interesting somehow..
also, i don't like the wtr chat software... |

| I would like to see this happen, although I'll only be able to be there when my work load permits. |

I've always liked the idea. I logged into chat on a Saturday a few weeks ago but no-one replied - just floated out there by myself for a little while before eventually leaving.
The time is good, but I prefer it on Saturday or Sunday while not being at work. I guess I'm not too keen about using the chat function at the job, so a time during the weekend should work out. |

| Think its a good idea. There is never anyone in chat room when I log on, so it would be nice to have a set time. How it would work with time zones I dont know but we should give it a go |

Good idea, yes.
At that time I am usually sleeping (9:00 am here), however, I suppose I could wake my lazy ass up in order to bicker childishly with vitalsigns in realtime . . . |

I'm prone to violence in chat rooms, so I cant be trusted to participate |

I think there are different ways to tackle this problems:
You can start on the basis of empirical research: if it is done well, it will provide you with the best existing solution.
You can start from technological research, explore new possibilities. It will be uncertain if your solution will actually work. If it does, however, you can create this extra value that makes your solution stand out.
A poll will not help much if you're working in the second field: people base their opinions on what they know. You will need to experiment. |

I like the idea as long as there'll be no bashing of members from some of the more disrespectful people that post to the WTR forums.

no vitalsigns, that's just what lovers do! You can't expect me to agree with all your kooky ideas just because you're having my love child!
How do we manage to always get so off topic? Um, yes . . . chat = good idea! |

| I guess we d need some provision to temporarily kick unwanted or misbehaving users from the chat. And a couple of people who have sufficient rights for that. Then it should be allright. |
