However, as it is a long process that requires a lot of hassle, you could get a tourist visa. I don't know if you need a visa for Kazakhstan, but you surely need more than a transit visa (according to what you wrote about your plans). Transit visa can be obtained if you present the tickets, which you won't have as I understand.
