|
|
Tomorrow (Wed 22) is the big grudge match between the Canadian men's hockey team and the wily Russians. Of course Russia has been hot so far these Olympics, while Canada . . . not so much, but past records mean nothing now as teams go into the quarter finals.
I say this is the grudge match because if you'll remember Russia lost just a few months ago to the Canadians in the World Juniors. Well now they have the chance to knock the Canadians out of medal contention (or vice versa), and if the Canadians don't smarten up the strong Russian team will roll over them easily.
Any predictions from WaytoRussia-ers? And I don't want this spiralling into some name calling, "my country is the best" kinda post, so behave yourselves, okay? |

My money was on Canada to win till a couple of days ago. What happened to them?
I think this could be a totally unpredictable medal award. I can't see the Finns taking the gold....except that so far they're undefeated. Brodeur is the best goaltender playing in these games, that's usually a good bet. The Czechs shifted into high gear last night, if they could only get their goaltending squared away.....
Jeez, I just don't know. Either the Canadians, the Czechs, the Russians, or the Finns will win the gold. That's my prediction. |

| I regret to say that I know nothing about Hockey and that I will be dancing during tonight's match. But of course there's no doubt in my heart that the Russians will be victorious over the Canadians. |

I watched this game at Kruzhka at Chistye Prudy. What an experience watching that game with a few hundred buzzed Russians! Channel 1 was there filming us although yesterday's news showed only a quick one or two second clip of some people right next to the camera. Good time was had by all, though, 2-0 Russia!
Did Russia play again on Thursday? |

Russia is playing Finland in about 20 minutes from right now, so probably by the time you read this they will already have won and moved on to the gold medal game!
Update: Finland 4, Russia 0
Finland looks like they may win the Gold. . . .
All Russia can hope for is a bronze now, and they've gotta go thru the early favourite Czechs to get it. |
