Hi

My girlfriend(UK citizen/passport) and I(Australian citizen/passport) have booked a trip to st petersburg and moscow from uk. We have recieved our visa support thru your service. We are organising the trip independently ourselves from the uk.

I am filling out the consulate visa application form and have a few questions. What answer do i put for:

Question 8 "Russian departments or organizations to be visited"?

Question 14 "Index and name of tourist group"?

Question 16 "Do you have medical coverage valid in Russia"?(being from australia do i have to provide proof of travel insurance? Girlfriend is from uk so does she?I think she is ok right?)

I just don't want to put any mistakes so it doesn't delay our visa processing. We fly out on may 27th returning 4th june. We are considering applying via mail, whats the average processing time? do you think we have enough time if we send next week?.

And lastly is there anything else appart from the extra consular fees for me being Australian that I would need to include documents wise for applying in the UK?. Such as letter confirming itinerary etc ?

Sorry bout all the questions but couldn't find these answers when searching the site and clarifiaction isn't such a bad thing.

Would much appreciate your input
Cheers
Christian

Question 8 "Russian departments or organizations to be visited"

-Where are you going to visit or what hotel/friends address are you staying at.

- I went to moscow and through a private homestay visa and i just put the address of where i was staying for that question.

Question 14 "Index and name of tourist group"?

- If you are traveling with a group thro some travel agency or some organization you can give them the groups name and address and such.

Question 16 "Do you have medical coverage valid in Russia"?

Do you have medical insurance meaning if you get hurt in Russia will you have some way of paying with it through some Russian Medical Insurance.

You probally dont so say no.

When i applied for my Visa It took 4 days for me to get everything in return but i also paid about 200 USD$ for next business day delievery thro first class mail with pre paid first class return envelope. Which cost 30$ for both envelopes with first class postage. So since you are flying out may 27th you have plenty of time to do this a cheaper way.

This is just my opinon answers they are not official in anyway its just my common sense giving some help, I dont know the process for the UK or Australia since i am from the United States and know the aggrevation of filling out this application. Ive been to Russia two times and its a great place to visit but a pain in the ass to get to.

Cheers for your reply.

In regards to q14 index and name of tourist group. We are travelling by ourselves not thru a tourist group or agency!. So what do we put then?.

Cheers again for all the info, am looking forward to our trip.

Take it easy

I am going on a guest visa and for question 14 I wrote NONE.
I would strongly reccomend that you get some sort of health insurance just in case you have an accident or become ill. Medicare will not cover you in Russia.

Unless you're on any official business then you can pur N/A in the 'departments and organisations' box - don't leave any boxes blank to avoid confusion, same N/A for 'tourist group' if you're travelling independently. Definitiely sort out some insurance - I've paid $250 for ten months coverage for all of Russia.

Check out www.russemblon.org for the conditions etc at London, you can always contact them if you are unsure. I shouldn't think a letter of any kind would be needed for tourist visas. In the UK (London or Edinburgh) the cheapest fee is 30 pounds which is a minimum of 10 days or so, the next one up is 60 pounds and half the time, though I use the cheaper one when possible. GOOD LUCK!
