operabase.com shows these performances at the Kirov theater:

7 Oct Glinka Life for the Tsar
9 Oct Tchaikovsky Mazeppa
10 Oct Glinka Ruslan & Ludmilla
12 Oct Shosakovich The Nose

Have experienced opera in Italy that often had dates that "slid" or were cancelled at the last moment.
How reliable are performance there?
Sources of lower cost tickets? Not center / orchestra , unless as "student" or "senior" discounted seats.

Thanks in Advance ehgreen AT cape DOT com

Hi, I went to Kirov last February. I thought the performance was really good. It is better if you know some Russian. I bought the tickets from this lady who used to come to the university and sell them to students. Also, if you are a foreigner they are going to charge you a lot more. I was lucky because I am a student. Get somebody who is Russian to buy them for you and then give them the money, it will be much cheaper.
