Hey,
I've got a question. I'm going back to St. Petersburg this summer again for a few months. Last time I was I stayed the whole time with a family who was really nice to me, this time however I'd like my own place (also because I didn't feel comfortable coming home late from being out with friends when the mom was worrying...). I've looked at various websites of agencies and noticed that some Russian agencies have quite lower prices than western based ones. Is this simply because they rent a different standard of appartments? Is it a total 'no-no' to book over a Russian agency (it's cheaper and I don't have that much money either)? If no, are there any tips on which to choose?

Thanks,
Schneeflocke

I've been wondering this myself. Particularly, I've been wondering if they ask for a broker's fee and a deposit. www.irr.ru is a good bet for finding places in many cities. They seem to list apartments in SPB for less than 150 bucksov although they're not near the center. Any place catering to summer tourists is likely to jake you for a higher price. People that advertise in English see dollar signs.

And don't forget about http://apartments.waytorussia.net

At the moment, I'm making a deal with one independent provider who has apartments at $60-$70 / night -- nobody else can offer it through the internet. Browse the site and see what you can find. If you want this cheap flat -- send me a PM.

Thanks WTR. If I was staying for a shorter period of time your apts would have indeed been an option, but for a longer period I simply can't afford this price per nigth....
I have found a place I can stay at, but thanks for all answers! Smile

We are working now with some prospective apartment owners trying to
make prices as low as possible. So if anyone is looking for a cheaper
place, feel free to ask.
