Good morning! I am a greek EU citizen, and will apply for a russian tourist visa tomorrow. I know that, for EU citizens, if they do not already have a valid health travel insurance, then they are obliged to buy the official state insurance scheme (2euros/per day). I would prefer to get a private (more reliable) travel health insurance... Do you know which companies are recoginsed by the russian consulates? Allianz, is for example a probability... Do you know if there are web-based reliable insurance companies that will be accepted by the russian consulate?
Thank you... |

Officially, any insurance that is valid on the territory of the Russian Federation should be recognized by the Russian consulate. I would advise you first to ask the Russian Consulate in your country if they really need the insurance, because sometimes they don't ask for it. However, having insurance is a good thing in itself, so if you decide to purchase one, you can go to any company. You should only make sure that the insurance is valid in Russia for the period of your stay, and that this company has a representative company in Russia (or at least a hotline) that will be able to provide you assistance. The cover should be from $10000-$15000 and it should be health and transport costs insurance.
If you're under 25 you could try http://www.statravel.com otherwise, international insurance companies, such as Allianz is perhaps a good choice. |
